Kind folks have tried to get the little guy come in so he could have some food, water, and shelter, but they say they couldn't get him to come anywhere near the door or even near food and water that they placed on the ground outside. They also couldn't get close enough to look at his tags, but he was wearing a blue metallic tag in the shape of a bone.

Dog Sighting in Middlesex Fells

via FellsDOG (January 4, 2009)

A shepherd mix with fluffy fur around the head was seen this morning in the Middlesex Fells near the Long Pond parking lot on the cranberry pond path.

Hi all, I came across a lost dog this morning on the cranberry pond path, near Long Pond Parking lot. It looked to be a shepherd mix. He/she was about the size of a shepherd but extremely skinny. I could see the ribs and pelvic bone clearly. He/she had tags I could hear clinking but couldn't get close enough to read them. Wouldn't even come close for a treat. Seemed to like my dog though. It could've been an older dog but the fluffy fur around the head made it seem younger. Other than the skinnyness seemed to have good energy as he darted one way for a while then came back and proceeded down the trail. I tried to report it to the Winchester animal control thinking someone would've called there first but they were closed until Monday. I saw this dog @9:30 on Sunday Jan 4th. I figured one of you may know the dog or the owner. He/she is still out there in the Fells. Thanks.

Somerville Animal Control

You know that there is a forum for posting lost and found dogs on the Somerville Dog Owners Group's website. April Terrio, the City of Somerville's Animal Control Officer (ACO) often posts pets that have been turned in to her on the lost and found forum. There is also a forum exclusively for the ACO to post pets that are available for adoption from the City.

But did you know that April also posts lost and and found pets and pets available for adoption on the Animal Control page on the City's website? Check it out!

Happy Tail

I am delighted to share the happy news I received from the father of the Tufts University student whose dog, a five-month old boxer puppy was stolen from Adams Street in Medford (just across the Somerville line), near Tufts, on June 9, 2005.

Date: Fri, 15 Jul 2005 00:27:41 -0400
Subject: The Dog ACE, stolen June 9th in Medford has been returned

Everyone;

Incredibly, my son's dog has been returned. A lady from East Boston had the dog. Her brother bought it for $220 from a teenager in front of a pet store in Medford. She saw the ads in the paper and the flyers that were posted (everywhere). It took her a couple of weeks to do the right thing and return the dog, but she did on Sunday. There were a couple of theories on who took the dog. At this point everyone is just happy that the dog is back. My son Robert and I want to thank everyone for their concern and support. Ace is back home with Robert and his Tufts room mates. All of them play football for Tufts. Please come by and see a game this fall. I hear they want to make Ace the unofficial mascot!
